Abstract

206,799. Donkin, J. June 25, 1923. Tyres with rims enclosing air-tubes. - In a tyre 1 more particularly of the type described in Specification 201,778 in which the spaced tyre beads 2 and the inner tube 4 rest upon the wheel rim 3, the beads 2, Fig. 1, fit channels 5 formed in rings 6 clamped against the tyre walls, the outer portions 7 of the rings being shaped to the tyre. The channels 5 fit over the flat rim 3 of the wheel and the inner portions 8 of the rings are apertured for bolts 9 which press the rings 6 against the tyre walls and hold the tyre in position. The rim may be formed with grooves 6<a> to grip the tyre beads. As shown in Fig. 3, studs 11 may pass through the portions 5a of each channel 5 the bolts 9 and the inner rim extensions 8 being omitted.
