Abstract

164,152. Crook, F., and Crook, A. March 9, 1920. Tread bands, projections, and surfaces; tyre attachments to rims.-A double-ended tread band 5 is detachably secured over the tyre cover 1 by press-stud devices 3, 6. The ends of the band interengage at 8, 9, a bead 10, which may have a metal reinforcement, being formed on the projection 8. The edges of the tread band are fitted with wires 13 recessed into the tyre cover and adjusted by turn-buckle or other means. As a further securing-means, flaps 20 on the tread band have edgereinforcements 21 which are forced against the wheel rim 23 by setscrews 24. The latter are threaded through yokes 22 arranged at intervals around the wheel. The parts 6 of the press-studs may be provided with projecting tread studs 25, Fig. 10. To increase adhesion, the metal fittings at the ends of the tread band and the press-studs may he magnetized.
