Abstract

Non-metallic elastic bodies and cores; tread bands.-In tyres of the kind having a detachable tread on the cover, flanges 10, 11 forming conical extensions co-axial with the tyre are provided, and may be integral with the tread band 5, as in Fig. 2, or with the tyre cover 1, as in Fig. 4. A metal band 9 slotted as at 13, Fig. 3, may be interposed between the cover and the tread band. Metal guard tabs 21 secured by rivets 22 may protect the flanges. An interior projection 16 of springy rubber may be provided to co-operate with ribs 17, 18 on the inside of the cover body in the event of deflation. In a modification, the guard taps 21 may comprise extensions of the metal band 9, which is articulated.
