Abstract

193,206. Williams, L. G. Dec. 21, 1921. Tyres with rims enclosing air tubes and chambers; tread bands, projections, and surfaces.-A rubber tread 1, fitted over a pneumatic tube 12 which is seated in a deep channel rim 8, is formed with thick side-walls 6 and a central web 5 having flanges 3 so as to leave cushioning-spaces 16. The edges of the flanges and side-walls may be vulcanized together, or an air-tight joint may be obtained by clamping them between the flanges of the rim 8 and the wheel-discs 9. The tread of the cover may be formed with a circumferential V-slot filled with spongy rubber 17.
