Abstract

170,418. Usborne, C. V. July 26. 1920. Addition to 149,437. Hooks, slip, and closed.-In a boat-lowering apparatus of the kind described in the parent Specification comprising a lowering frame fixed to the lowering tackle from which the boat is suspended and adapted to engage the plating of the ship during the lowering operation, the lowering frame F automatically assumes a vertical position clear of the boat when the latter is released. The releasing gear comprises plates a, a<1> fixed to the keel of the boat and fitted with pivoted hooks e, e<1> engaging the lowering tackle and held in position by pivoted arms c, c<1> provided with rollers d, d<1> the arms being simultaneously displaced by a lever g against the action of the spring f, f<1> so as to release the hooks. The hooks may be engaged by spring pressed latches j, j<1> to permit insertion of the links E.
