[Class 115] A stowing and launching cradle 6 for lifeboats and rafts is pivotally mounted on trestle frames, or, as shown, on a bracket 9 forming part of a cabin wall, and is normally held horizontal, e.g. by bolts 14 releasable to allow the cradle to swings into line with a slipway 19 below and separate from the supports. The boat &c. is normally held on the cradle by chains, or by a cross-bar 27, hoops, or a. hinged bracket ; the chains may be automatically released', by withdrawal of bolts, on the release of the cradle supports.
