168,567. Pett, F. S. April 23, 1920. Hooks, automatic-release.-In a boat engaging and disengaging gear of i.he type described in Specifications 12849/99, [Class 115, Ships &c., Div. III.], and 2758/06, wherein the after tumbling hook 2 is pivoted in a frame 1 connected by slings to the keelson and stern post, the sideplates of the frame are extended at 12 and the neck of the hook is thickened at 13 or the plates are thickened at 12 so that the hook is held in the position 2a for engaging by friction, independently of the weight of chain runner 15 and controlling tackle 16. The neck of the hook is arranged directly over its pivot pin 5 so as to take the strain off the chain lanyard and controlling tackle, the links 7 being maintained at 45‹ to the horizontal by the fore-and-after 8<a>.
