Abstract

170,347. Bloom, M. P. July 12, 1920. Pistons; piston packing. -A split packing-ring 8 is formed with a circumferential groove 11, which collects oil owing to the scraping action of tha upper edge of the groove. The upper edge of the packing- ring is formed with a recess 19, terminating in a sloping shoulder 18. The oil which collects in the recess 19 and groove 11 acts as a liquid seal.
