Abstract

256,083. Talbot, E. Oct. 1, 1925. Pistons; packing. - A thin split packing ring 4 is pressed against the side of its groove by a wavy spring 6. Oil drainage holes 7 lead from the bottom of the groove to the interior of the piston. Alternatively, or in addition, drainage holes 9 may lead from a bevelled edge of the groove. Two or more packing rings 4 may be separated by one or more springs 6. The packing may be used in combination with the ordinary split rings.
