Abstract

Brake mechanism. - In Bowden mechanism, shown applied to the operation of cycle brakes but applicable also for use with sidecars and motor brakes, ignition and carburetting - apparatus, two or more inner members D', D<2>, which may be of piano wire, are carried within a single outer casing C through the whole or part only of their length. Brake blocks J<1>, J<2> carried on levers H<1>, H<2> are simultaneously operated by a lever E through the medium of the inner members D<1>, D<2>, which pass first through ordinary outer members C<1>, C<2> connected to the special casing C by a junction piece A. In a modification, the brakes are operated by the outer casings, the inner members being anchored. More than one inner member may be actuated by a single, lever.
