Abstract

168,432. Tully, C. B. June 8, 1920. Producers.-In a gas producer of the kind in which the fuel is heated in a retort communicating with the fuel bed by the gases obtained during the "blow," and subsequently treated with steam and hydrocarbon to produce water gas, the gases during the " blow " are passed to a washer to recover ammonia and tar and are then utilized for heating or power r purposes. The " blow " gases pass through a checkwork c in a chamber b enclosing the retort d and are led by a pipe g to a washer h for removal of ammonia and tar. The purified gas then passes for use by a pipe n<1> to a boiler o. Two or more producers may be employed so as to give a continuous supply of gas.
