Abstract

29,624. Vignon, L. Jan. 2, [Convention date]. Hydrogen.-In a process for the production of a gas comprising mainly a mixture of hydrogen and methane, a quantity of steam or water is passed over a mixture of carbonized material (such as coke) and lime heated to a temperature above 800‹ C. Carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide formed in the reaction are removed by first absorbing the carbon dioxide with lime or by other means and then passing the gas containing carbon monoxide over lime heated to 400‹ C. to transform the carbon monoxide into methane and hydrogen.
