Abstract
167,828. Proud, J. P. May 12, 1920. Fluid-actuated valves with thermal control.- In a carburettor provided with a thermostatic capsule controlling the air or fuel supply in accordance with the temperature of the carburettor or engine, one wall of the capsule A is fitted with a screwed or other pin G by which it can be adjustably secured in a boss H on a mount or holder E, and the other wall is provided with a boss or screw J in which is adjustably screwed the stem of the air or fuel valve. The valve may be a needle valve controlling the fuel nozzle, or a plunger valve L controlling the air inlet N. In a modification, the capsule carries both air and fuel valves, a fuel needle valve being mounted on the air valve L. Two or more capsules may be connected together, each containing a different filling and having a different rate of expansion.
