Abstract

166,237. Taggart, J. Scott-. July 28, 1919. Frequency, changing.-The tuned receiving- circuit 2, 3 of a wireless receiver is connected oppositely across the grids and filaments of a pair of three-electrode valves 19, 20, the rectified currents in the plate circuits being combined in a single indicating-circuit 16. The grid potentials are adjusted to work at either bend of the characteristic curve by potentiometers 17, 18, and the plates are preferably given a potential high enough to ensure that both bends occur with negative grid potentials. The plate circuits are coupled through lonv-frequency transformers 14, 15 to the common indicating-circuit which may include a telephone 16. The two plate currents may have an additive effect in the telephone, or one may be arranged to oppose the other.
