Abstract

490,819. Valve circuits for wireless reception. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., RUST, N. M., and BRAILSFORD, J. D. Feb. 20, 1937, No. 5153. [Class 40 (v)] In a wireless receiver a band-pass filter is provided and a valve having frequency selective negative feedback such that the feedback at the middle of the pass range is small and near the ends of the pass range large to give a characteristic having a flat top and a sharp cut off. The Figure shows an arrangement in which the valve 2 precedes an adjustable band filter 10, 11 and negative feedback is produced by circuits 7, 8 tuned to the limits of the pass range. In modifications the feedback is produced by an acceptor circuit in shunt to a rejector circuit Fig. 2 (not shown) or in shunt to a choke Fig. 7 (not shown) or the feedback may be produced by various arrangements of circuits coupled to the cathode circuit of the valve, Figs. 3-6 (not shown). The mutual conductance of the valve with the negative feedback may be controlled automatically in accordance with signal strength. Specification 479,599 is referred to.
