Abstract
166,029. Lee, R. C. June 7, 1920. Double and multiple hinges; pivoting-adjustments. -- A working- holding stand, particularly for automobile radiators, is provided with a supporting - arm adjustable about two axes at right-angles and carrying clamps at each end, the clamps being adjustable about two other axes at right-angles; the turning-movements of the arm and clamps are braked about one of the axes. In Fig. 4, the supporting-arm 12 is rotatably carried in jaws 10 formed on the stud 7, which is clamped to a verticallysliding rod 3 by means of the wheel 9, a pressureplate 14 tightened by a set screw 13 braking the movement of the supporting-arm about its minor axis, the stud 7, before the arm is positively locked by the wheel 9. In Fig. 3, the bent ends 16 of the arm terminate in bosses 17 which are provided with set-screws 18 acting upon pressureplates 19 to give a braked movement about one axis to the hinged clamping-jaws 25. Rods 21 projecting through the bosses 17 have their lengthways movement adjusted by clamping- wheels 23, 24, the clamping-jaws 25 being pivotally mounted as shown at one end of the rods. The lugs 31 of the radiator are clamped between the jaw members by means of the hand-wheel 30.
