Abstract

165,778. Empis, H. C. June 29, 1920, [Convention date]. Vaporizers, external. - Combustible mixture passes by way of pipes 16, 17 through a chamber 10 with a perforated lining 13 containing metal balls 14, and traversed by a pipe 15 through which exhaust gases flow. There is a throttle valve between the carburettor and the vaporizer which on being closed more or less allows air carburetted with petrol to enter the induction pipe 17 laterally at a constricted part. TEe balls offer more resistance to the passage of the mixture when the engine speed is low and the temperature of the exhaust gases is also low. thus tending to render the heating uniform.
