Hot-plate stoves; baffles.-In a cooling-stove of the type in which the combustion products from a gas or like burner heat two hot-plates at different levels, the gases are led back to the burner chamber to heat the air for combustion. In the stove shown the gases from the burner a pass, as shown by the arrows, successively through the chamber b, the upwardly-inclined duct c, the chamber d, the space f beneath the chamber d, and thence back to the burner chamber. Baffles d<2>, d<3> tend to retain the gases in the chamber d. The space f is provided with a door d<4> with a sliding ventilator d<5>. Bars k serve to support a cooking-utensil. A refractory slab g, preferably perforated, may be arranged above the burner. A bottomless oven may be arranged to stand on one or both hotplates.
