Abstract

164,513. Liver, C., and Liver, H. March 13, 1920. Lappet looms.-The pin frame of a lappet loom for weaving spotted muslins &c. is reciprocated by apparatus comprising an oscillating friction clutch or equivalent device. In the apparatus shown in Fig. 1, the pin frame A is operated by a strap or band a attached to it and passing over guide-pulleys a<1> and round a pulley B on a shaft b. A camoperated or like lever c<1> oscillates the pulley B, and moves the pin frame A, the band a slipping when the movement of the pin frame is arrested by the cam-groove on the lappet wheel E. Springs a<2> are preferably fitted in the band a, which may pass round two or three pulleys B to increase the frictional grip thereon. In a modification, two pulleys B are fitted side by side in frictional contact, and in another modification, a metal &c. friction band or strap D, Fig. 5, passing round the pulley B, has an arm d<1> connected by ball joints to a rod d, which oscillates the pin frame A by means of a connecting-rod d<2>.
