Abstract
190,268. Lobley, J. T. Sept. 26, 1921. Picking - motions; pickers; shuttle boxes. -A picker 10 receives its forward motion from a chain or other flexible member 13 attached to the larger circumference of a compound pulley 15, 15<1>, which is rotated by a flexible member 16 connecting the smaller circumference of the pulley to the end of a rocking lever 17, which is depressed by a cam 21. During the forward motion of the picker, a cord &c. 24, Fig. 2, attached to the picker, elongates a spring 27 by means of another compound pulley 23, 23<1> and a cord 26, so that on release the spring recoils and draws the picker back to position. The shuttle box 1 contains upper and lower spindles 7, 8, on which slides the picker compressing two bushes 9 connected by a plate 10 containing a striking- block 12 of resilient material. The Provisional Specification describes the use of endless chains and free-wheel mechanism, the chain passing over one or two driven sprocket-wheels and moving backwards and forwards. Instead of the compound pulley, an eccentric is described.
