Abstract

193,997. Stringer, H. L. Dec. 8, 1921. Machinery, utilizing inertia to obtam movements in. - Relates to means for converting vibratory motion into rotary motion, applicable for actuating moving advertisements by utilizing the vibrations produced on or bv vehicles &c. According to the invention a weight a mounted on a spring b is attached to one end of a thread or cord e passing over or round a pulley f and tensioned at the other end by a light spring g so that the pulley f is driven in one direction of rotation only under the influence of the movements produced in the weight a by external vibrations. Two or more weights may drive the same shaft, preferably being equidistantly disposed around the shaft. In order to prevent back rotation when a single. weight is used, a second cord i is passed over the pulley, being corrected at one end to the rigid frame or box d and at the other end to a spring j, this arrangement allowing rotation in a. clockwise direction only.
