Abstract
164,185. Norton, L., and Norton, L. J. March 26, 1920. Switches, quick-action. - Relates to switches of the type in which a movable contact member slides within a casing to engage a fixed contact supported by the casing, and is formed with oppositelyinclined surfaces engaged by a spring to hold the switch on or off. To hold such a spring 5 in position, it is placed between distance sleeves 8 fitted within the casing 1. The spring may bear against flanges integral with the sleeves as shown in Fig. 1, or against separate plates 14 as shown in Fig. 7. A coiled spring in one or in two pieces, or a spring shaped as shown in Fig. 10, may be used. The ends of the coiled spring or springs may be anchored to pins 10 engaging holes in the integral flanges of the sleeves 8 or in the plates 14; or the ends of a one-piece spring may be intermeshed. The outer sleeve 8 is held in position by a sleeve 11 against which bears a cap 12 fitted on the end of the casing.
