Switches, quick-action; contacts.-In a tumbler switch, such as is described in Specifications 140,179, 140,180, and 142,430, in which the stationary contacts lie outside a plane passing through the axis of the movable contact-member, said plane being parallel with the back of the switch base, the parts f of the stationary-contacts c with which the movable contact-arm engages are placed on one side of the perpendicular plane passing through the axis of the operating handle, and the fastening means for these contacts are placed on the other side of this plane. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the contacts c are in the form of an elongated narrow U-shaped leaf spring looped or enlarged at the point where the bend occurs. The stem of a cheese-headed terminal member a passes through the loop or enlargement, and is secured to the base by a nut d, a washer e being placed between the contact and the base. In a modification, Fig. 4, the washer takes the form of a shallow cup-shaped member e<1> having its wall cut away to accommodate the limbs of the contact.
