Abstract

Contact substances such as iron or nickel or their compounds after use for converting the carbon disulphide in coal and like gases into sulphuretted hydrogen, are revivified by being treated with a mixture of air and waste furnace gases. The proportion of waste gases is diminished until finally air alone is used, but the quantity of oxygen passing in unit time is constant whatever the proportion of waste gases to air.
