Materials for purifying; purifier waste, revivifying.-Coal gas or the like after the usual purifying process is passed over finely porous carbon or charcoal to remove the residual sulphur compounds. It is advantageous first to remove completely the sulphuretted hydrogen. The charcoal, which is obtained by carbonizing hard woods, is placed on trays in cylinders through which the gas is passed, the cylinders having heating and cooling connexions so that the condensate may be expelled by heat and the carbon revivified by cooling.
