Abstract

316,948. Ges. f³r Linde's Eismaschinen Akt.-Ges. Aug. 6, 1928, [Convention date]. Purifying processes; purifier waste, revivifying. -The removal of nitrogen oxides, cyclic diolefines, and ketones from coke oven gas prior to low temperature cooling is effected by treatment with a substance which adsorbs these impurities and also promotes a catalytic; action between them. Nitro-hydrocarbons are first formed and these, decompose into carbon, carbon dioxide, water, and nitrogen. Active carbon and silica gel are suitable adsorbents; they may be impregnated with metals or metal salts. Regeneration of the adsorbents is effected by heating in nitrogen. The coke oven gas undergoes a preliminary removal of higher benzene hydrocarbons, hydrogen sulphide, carbon dioxide, and water.
