Abstract

282,634. Fischer, F. Dec. 24, 1926, [Convention date]. Catalytic agents, preparation of.-Gases such as water-gas, which may be first freed from sulphuretted hydrogen, are treated for the removal of other sulphur compounds by means of a catalyst consisting of a precious metal of the first group of the periodic system particularly silver, which convert the sulphur compounds in presence of hydrogen to sulphuretted hydrogen but cause no other change in the composition of the gas. The sulphuretted hydrogen is then removed in the usual manner. In an example asbestos fibres are impregnated with silver nitrate solution, dried, and heated to red heat to produce a catalyst containing silver oxide. The water-gas which has been freed from sulphuretted hydrogen is passed over this catalyst at 200-300‹ C. and then treated to remove the sulphuretted hydrogen produced. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) includes the, use of precious metals such as silver or gold. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
