Abstract

163,905. Chambers, R. M. May 8, 1920. Hoods.-In a vehicle hood, the hoops are carried on rails mounted in sections on the sides of the body and the door tops, and the rearmost section is hinged to allow of turning the assembled hoops into the horizontal position. A slotted tube C is mounted in the top of the sides and the doors, and the rear section is mounted on a quadrantshaped stay D which slides in a housing in the body and is turned up as in Fig. 7 to turn the hoops F into horizontal position, a clamping device d locking it as required. The hoops F carry at their ends barrel-shaped slide-blocks f adapted to slide freely in the tube C, clamping-screws g securing them in position. According to the Provisional Specification, the front hood rims may be connected by wires to winding-drums on the front of the vehicle for opening the hood, and spacing: members may be provided on the hood sticks.
