Power cultivation; ploughs.-Ploughs and other implements are operated by means of a single winding-machine and a single rope passing from one drum on the winding-machine, round a pulley on the implement, and back to a second drum on the winding-machine, ratchet and pawl mechanism being provided for transmitting the drive from the pulley to the travelling wheels of the implement for moving it away from the winding- machine. The implement is drawn towards the winding-machine by braking one drum II, Fig. 1, and driving the other drum I, and is moved in the opposite direction by allowing the drum II to rotate while still driving the drum I. During the next bout of the implement the drum II is driven and the drum I braked or allowed to rotate. A clutch Z is provided for alternately connecting the drums to the driving-shaft H. The pulley 1 is mounted loosely on a shaft 4 on the implement, and is provided with a friction clutch 2 operated by a lever 3. On the backward movement of the implement, the pulley drives the differential gearing D and axles 14, 15 of the wheels J', J<2> either by ratchet gearing 10, 13 and chain gearing 5, 7 or by ratchet gearing 11, 12 and spur gearing 6, 8.
