Abstract
750,769. Shovelling machines. TAYLOR & CO. (PROPRIETARY), Ltd., C. C. Sept. 1, 1954 [Sept. 9, 1953], No. 25352/54. Class 68(1) [Also in Group XXXI] The winch drum 10 actuating the hauling cable 6 of a rocker shovel (not shown), is driven through an epicyclic gear comprising a driven sun wheel 38, planet wheels 48, an annular gear 49 which is rotatably fast with drum 10, and a band brake 59 which is engagable with a brake drum 53 carried by the planet carrier 40, 45, by a, pedal (not shown), and linkage 76, 64, 62, 69, to vary the speed of rotation of the drum 10. The epicyclic gear is driven by a constant speed prime mover 11 through shafts 13, 23, 29 and reduction gearing 21, 22; 24, 25 and 27, 28; shaft 13 being adapted also to drive a wheel propulsion shaft 18 in forward and reverse directions through bevel gearing 16, 17, 20 and a clutch member 14 which is keyed to shaft 13 and is slidable therealong by a lever 15, 19.
