Abstract

159,660. Hanoulle, L. Dec. 10, 1919. Roller apparatus. - Apparatus for grinding, mixing, and dividing moulding-sand comprises a crushing-device consisting of three cylinders 1, 2, 2<1> with their axes horizontal and parallel and arranged in triangular form, a disintegrating, mixing, and distributing device mounted in the feed hopper 3, and a dividing-device 5 mounted below the cylinders, all the parts being driven from a single driving-shaft 17. The auxiliary cylinders 2, 2<1> are pressed by springs or other resilient members against the main cylinder 1, and the disintegrator in the hopper 3 consists of a rotary horizontal shaft 8 carrying radial arms. Scrapers 4, 4<1> bear against the cylinder 1. The bars 5 of the dividing-device are arranged parallel to one another in circular rows and secured by their curved ends 5<1> to members 6, 6<1> on a rotary shaft 7. The surfaces of the crushing cylinders may be rough, smooth, grooved, corrugated, &c. The driving-gear may comprise toothed wheels 11, 10, 12, 13 and a belt 16, or chains may be employed.
