Abstract

724,477. Coal crushers. TAYLOR, E. May 4, 1953, No. 12241/53. Class 59. A coal crusher comprises a pair of parallel. toothed crushing rollers 1, 2 which are mounted on shafts supported in bearings fixed to the lower portion of a framework made in two portions bolted together and are driven at equal peripheral speed from a driving shaft 8 by means of a pinion 7 and spur gears 5, 6, the coal being crushed first between the roller 1 and an adjustable curved plate 21 having renewable ridged wearing plates 22, then between the rollers, and finally between the rollers and a dividing unit made in two parts 25, 26 which are hinged on a vertically adjustable pin 28 supported in bearings mounted on packings of the thickness required, the outer ends of the parts 25, 26 being carried on pins 31 supported by bolts 32 surrounded by springs 34. The rollers are each made in one piece or in segments, and the roller 1 has three rows of large splitting teeth alternating with two rows of similar teeth on the roller 2. The parts 25, 26 of the dividing unit are grooved, or the grooves are formed between ridged wearing plates secured to the parts 25, 26, to allow the passage of the rows of large splitting teeth. The crushed coal is delivered to a central outlet by means of plates 36 provided with scraping combs 38.
