Loose-weight apparatus.-In an automatic weighing-scale, the weights are formed as a series of superimposed members of inverted V section and are removed from the weight box to a fixed support by means of a lifting-jack. The weight box 6 is suspended from one end 3 of the weight beam by means of rods 5, and has a top 6<a> of inverted V shape to receive weights 8 of - corresponding shape. Yokes 16 raised by a motor-driven lifting-jack 10 are arranged to pick up the weights when desired. Those weights not required on the weight box are secured to the framework 4 by passing pins through lugs 8a on the weights, the remaining weights being returned to the weight box.
