Abstract

486,982. Weighing - apparatus. TURNER, W., and ASKEW, G. Feb. 25, 1937, No. 5677. [Class 143] A portable weighbridge, especially of the type adapted to be inserted in turn under each wheel of a vehicle, comprises a resilient beam 12 supported at both ends below a platform 10, a lever system 6 for transmitting the load on the platform to the beam 12 at a point or points intermediate its supports, and an indicator 18 actuated in dependence on the deflection of the beam. The levers 6 support the platform on knife-edges 9 and are fulcrumed in suspended stirrups 4. The indicator is actuated from the under side of the beam below the adjacent ends of the levers 6, by a lever 16, and is carried by arms 19 fixed to the base of the frame 1 out of contact with the sides. A protective casing 25 fixed to the frame is placed around the indicator. Ramps may be placed at each end of the weighbridge.
