Abstract
159,034. Scanes, A. E. L., and Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd. Nov. 25, 1919. Blast and aspirating apparatus, ejector.-Apparatus for condensing vapour and extracting non-condensable gases, for example from a steam condenser, consists in a combination of a Leblanc rotary ejector and a Koerting ejector. A central jet 13 of water is supplied by a reversed turbine wheel of the Leblanc type to an inner cone 11; an annular jet of water is supplied to an outer cone 12 with a flared mouth from a series of nozzles 6 in ring formation. Both cones end at the throat of a diffuser 3, which draws from a condenser connection 1. An artificial head of water for supplying the nozzles may be derived from a centrifugal pump, conveniently upon the shaft of the reversed turbine wheel, and this pump may be used to prime the reverse turbine when starting.
