Abstract

585,333. Burners. GRIFFITHS, A. A. April 21, 1941, No. 5153. [Class 75 (i)] [Also in Group XXVI] A burner or carburetting device for a gas turbine comprises a fan-like structure, through which the combustion air flows and by which it is rotated, and liquid fuel nozzles 15 which project the fuel radially on to the backs of the rotation blades 14. In an alternative form, the fuel is supplied by a pipe 26, Fig. 4, to an annular channel 25 in a sidewall of the casing, passes into tubular portions 22 of some of the blades and is ejected through holes 23. The rotor may be driven at starting and may be used for driving an auxiliary during running. The fuel may be supplied by a variable delivery pump controlled by the power-output of the turbine.
