Abstract

Securing bearings on shafts.-In a ball or roller bearing in which the inner racering 2 is rigidly secured to the shaft by three intermediate tapered sleeves 5, 6, 7, the sleeve 5 rests against the shaft 4 and has its outer surface in the form of a double cone with no cylindrical portion, with which engage the tapered sleeves 6, 7, which have cylindrical surfaces engaging the shaft and the race-ring. The sleeves 6, 7 are forced into position and then locked by screws 8, 9 situated in portions of the sleeves projecting beyond the race-ring. Alternatively, a double conical sleeve 10 may engage the race-ring and be engaged by sleeves 11. 12, as shown in the lower half of the Figure. The sleeves may be split.
