Abstract

488,053. Roller bearings ; nuts. USHER, G., and USHER, M. June 10, 1937, No. 16091. [Class 12 (i)] [Also in Group XXV] An adjustable roller bearing for connecting- rods and other purposes has a series of rollers located between the shaft and a liner or race ring 10. The latter is divided into two unequal parts by cuts inclined to the bearing axis. The bearing housing is axially divided and is provided at the ends with taper screw threads 7 carrying nuts 11. The nuts 11 are divided axially, the two parts of each being secured together by a pair of dovetailed keys 12. When the nuts 11 are in adjusted position the keys 12 are slid axially so as to engage also dovetailed shaped projections 9 on the bearing housing. Inwardly directed end flanges on the nuts 11 overlie the ends of the rollers and retain oil in the bearing.
