Abstract
156,405. La Montagne, P. P., and Paramount Knitting Co. Dec. 23, 1919. Needles. - Machine needles of the slotted - hook and separate sliding-latch type are so proportioned as to be useable in existing machines without alteration of the needle-bed slots, the latch member being located within the boundaries of the hook member 7 whereby the entire needle may be mounted in a single trick. The hook member 7 is preferably punched out and the longitudinal slot 10 for the latch member is formed by sawing. The latch member is stamped out of sheet metal and comprises a head 19, point 20, shank 21, and a bent-over resilient rear part 22, which grips the sides of the trick and fits into the recess 12 of the hook member. The improved needle can be used in either a. dial or a needle cylinder. The latch member is actuated by the action of the shoulders 13 and 14 of the hook member 7 on the surfaces 24, 26.
