Abstract
440,384. Knitting-machines. NOLDE & HORST CO., 9th Street, Reading, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. Aug. 3, 1934, No. 22714. Convention date, June 8. [Class 74 (ii)] In a rib-knitting machine transference from rib to plain work is effected by transfer bits 28 acted on by cams on the top side of the dial which act also on the dial needles. Each transfer bit 28 is mounted in the same groove as its associated needle 27 and carries at the forward end a loop piercing point 43 directed slightly downwards. There is also a bowed out formation 48 to allow passage of the adjacent cylinder needle and a shoulder 45. After the bit is projected to pass the point 43 into the loop 60 of the associated dial needle 27, which is also projected, the adjacent cylinder needle rises and passes into the loop, which is distended by the shoulder 45. After the needle 27 has been projected to clear the loop, both needle and bit are withdrawn. Specification 402,943 is referred to.
