Abstract

155,010. Wallens, H. N. Sept. 8, 1919. Spray burners. - A liquid-fuel burner comprises a casing 4 with an air inlet port 5 and containing a cylinder 7 to which oil is supplied through an inlet 6, the flow of oil being controlled by a valve spindle 11 acting in conjunction with a primary conical n o z z l e 10. S u r r o u n d i n g the primary nozzle is a tube 12 forming a secondary nozzle and adjustable l o n g i t u - dinally by a set-screw 13, a series of holes 16 being formed in the secondary nozzle. A disk 15 having holes corresponding to the holes 16 may be rotated on the tube 12 so that the holes in the disk may be caused to register wholly or partly with the holes in the secondary nozzle. In a modification, air ports for the admission of air to the secondary nozzle may be made at a tangent to impart a rotary motion to the atomized oil and gases leaving the burner. Steam may be supplied through the spindle 11, which in this case would be made hollow. The oil-cylinder 7 may be moved relatively to the secondary-nozzle 12 by rotation of a cam member 17.
