Abstract

217,544. Studer, A. W., (Assignee of Sieber, J.). June 12, 1923, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors.-Water is admitted to the mixing chamber approximately at right angles to the direction in which the fuel and air are admitted, and is whirled and atomized as it enters. The mixing chamber 5 has an outlet passage 1 controlled by a cock 3 and an air inlet casing 8 carried by a screwed socket 9 and surrounding the. fuel passage. The air enters through apertures 33 adapted to register more or less with apertures 32 in a rotatable shutter 28 connected to the outlet cock 3 so as to maintain the air inlet opening and the opening through the cock 3 always equal. Fuel entering at 13 is controlled by a cock 12 and also by a suctionactuated needle valve 17 carrying a fan disc 26 and loaded by a spring 19 in an adjustable socket 15. The fan disc is rotated by the entering air and facilitates the mixing thereof with the fuel. Water enters at 40 and is controlled by a suction-actuated spring-loaded valve 35 on the spindle of which is mounted a fan disc 39 which serves to whirl and atomize the water.
