Abstract

1532865 Controlling I C engine fuel injection WISSENSCHAFTLICH-TECHNISCHES ZENTRUM AUTOMOBILBAU KARL-MARX-STADT VEB 11 Nov 1976 [18 Nov 1975] 46962/76 Heading F1B A fuel injection system comprises first and second pulse generators rotating with the crankshaft and the cam-shaft of the engine respectively and electronic switching means responsive to coincidence of the pulses to distribute them to the fuel injection valves associated with each cylinder of the engine. As shown, a crank-shaft driven disc 1 influences sensors 11, 12, 13 to produce pulses which are shaped at 101, 102, 103 and pass to pairs of AND gates 41, 46; 42, 45; 43, 46 respectively. A disc 2 driven by the engine cam-shaft produces a positive and negative pulse each revolution which pass either directly or through inverter 3 to the AND gates. When the pulses coincide the respective AND gate triggers the associated thyristor 51-54 and thus allows an injection pulse which is computed in calculator 7 from sensed operating parameters to pass through to the respective injector valve 61-64 for a period that is determined by the extent of the protrusion on the crank-shaft disc. Preferably the crank-shaft disc sensors produce sawtooth outputs which progressively decrease in amplitude.
