Abstract

1516314 Automatic control of fuel supply to IC engines LUCAS ELECTRICAL Ltd 2 June 1975 [7 June 1974] 25306/74 Heading G3N A fuel injection system for a compression ignition engine includes a read only memory 11 which is addressed through input device 14 which receives a signal proportional to engine speed and input device 15 which receives a signal proportional to engine load obtained by summing the outputs of the speed and demand transducers. The appropriate output on lines 16 is decoded in control network 35 which operates the respective fuel injection valve electromagnet for a time corresponding to the signal on lines 16. The engine speed transducer 21 produces an alternating output with a frequency corresponding to speed and this is supplied as a clocking signal to control 35 and after shaping to oscillator 33 and through voltage converter 23 to amplifier 25. A throttle pedal position transducer 29 also supplies the amplifier 25 whose output represents a combination of demand and engine speed; i.e. load, and supplies input device 15. The oscillator 33 also supplies timing pulses to control 35 which produces output signals to each cylinder of the engine at a known cam-shaft angle.
