Abstract

1380347 Electronic fuel injection systems for I C engines ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 13 March 1972 [12 March 1971] 11588/72 Heading G1N In an I. C. engine intermittent fuel injection system an electrical control device 20 is triggered in synchronism with the crank-shaft rotation to provide opening pulses for injection valves 11, an electronic distributer 55 being controlled by electric signals generated in at least one winding, which is inductively coupled to a lead of the ignition device of the engine, to supply said opening pulses to the valves in a sequence corresponding to the firing sequence of the individual spark plugs of the engine. As shown, the control device 20 is triggered from the ignition device 47 via a timer 38, the output of the timer also being applied to the distributer 55 in the form of a ring counter. A winding 51 arranged on a ferrite core which surrounds one of the ignition leads 49 of the ignition device is connected to the counter, a second winding (not shown), being similarly arranged around the main ignition lead 48, also being connected to the counter 55. Alternatively, Fig. 2 (not shown), the windings are connected to a synchronizer connected before the counter 55. Details of the synchronizer, counter and timer are shown in Fig. 2. An alternative embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), comprises a transformer having its primary winding arranged in the ignition lead between the ignition primary winding and the contact breaker, the secondary winding of the transformer being conductively coupled to the primary winding and being connected to a timer whose output is applied to the control device 20 and the counter 55.
