Abstract

1381893 Ignition systems ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 21 July 1972 [24 July 1971] 34180/72 Heading F1B An ignition system for an internal-combustion engine comprises a high tension coil 11 whose secondary winding 12 is connectible to at least one sparking plug 13 and whose primary winding 14 is connected in series with the switching path of a switching transistor 15 and a central circuit for the switching transistor which circuit includes a contact breaker 18 adapted to be operated in timed relation with the internal-combustion engine, the central circuit being constructed and arranged so that opening of the contact breaker renders the switching path of the switching transistor 15 blocked and so that electrical energy stored in an electrical storage element during the period of closure of the contact breaker influences the control circuit immediately after the period of closure in order to keep the switching path of the switching transistor blocked for at least a period during which the contact breaker might close and open again before the predetermined instant of closure. As shown the electrical storage element is the HT coil 11. In a modification the electrical storage element is the HT coil and a storage capacitor and in another modification the storage element consists of a storage capacitor only.
