Abstract

1,147,353. Ignition systems. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. May 11, 1966 [May 13, 1965], No. 20866/66. Heading F1B. In an arrangement for simultaneously sparking two spark plugs 1, 2 associated with the same cylinder B of an internal-combustion engine, each spark plug being connected to the secondary winding 3, 4 of its own ignition coil to enable it to receive its spark voltage by interruption of a direct current supply to the primary winding 7, 8 of the coil, respective transistors T 1 , T 2 are connected in series with the primary windings and a common switching device 10 adapted to be controlled by the engine is provided for blocking both transistors at the instant of sparking. As shown the switching device comprises a contact breaker coupled to the engine. The switching device may comprise a third transistor and an associated contact breaker. In a modification the spark is triggered by transistors controllable, via a monostable multi-vibrator, by a magnetic transducer mechanically coupled to the engine.
