Abstract
1,229,930. Ignition systems. NOVI-P.B. B. Dec.12, 1968 [Dec.18, 1967], No.59066/68. Heading F1B. [Also in Division H1] An ignition coil, for use with and energizable by an inductor winding 4 of a flywheel magneto, under control of a contact breaker 5, to produce voltage pulses for a sparking plug 6 of a spark ignition engine, comprises a low voltage primary winding 2 and a high voltage secondary winding 3 only loosely magnetically coupled together by a closed magnetic circuit, the inductance of the primary winding being high and the secondary winding constituting two high Q factor resonance circuits, one being a series circuit between the leakage inductance of the secondary winding and its distributed capacitance and the other being a parallel circuit between the inductance of the secondary winding and the distributed capacitance.
