Abstract

1346147 Ignition systems ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 4 Aug 1972 [6 Aug 1971] 36476/72 Heading F1B An ignition system for internal-combustion engine has an ignition transformer 6 whose primary winding 5 is connected to a capacitor 4 acting as a capacitive energy storage device, an ignition coil 11 acting as an inductive energy storage device and at least one sparking plug 16 which is connected to the secondary windings 12, 13 of the ignition transformer and the ignition coil, the secondary windings being decoupled one from the other by voltage-dependent elements. A first voltage-dependent element 14 is connected between first terminals of the two secondary windings, a second voltage dependent element 15 provides a by-pass for the secondary winding of the ignition coil and the first voltagedependent element, and the sparking plug is connected between second terminals of the two secondary windings. As shown the voltage dependent elements are high voltage diodes. The first voltage dependent element, may be a Zener diode or a spark gap.
