Abstract
An ignition system for an internal-combustion engine comprises a storage capacitor C1 connected through a semi-conductor switching device for example a transistor T and through a trigger stabilization diode D1 with the primary winding L1 of an ignition transformer TR1. A control electrode B of the semi-conductor switching device is connected with a feedback winding L2 on the ignition transformer an alternator A produces the trigger pulse. Capacitor C2 is connected in parallel with the diode D1 and its function is to achieve a substantial reduction in the required pulse. In a modification the capacitor C2 is charged by the alternator coil L4. In another embodiment a variable capacitor is connected between the transformer side of the diode D1 and the collector of the transistor T. Other modifications are described.
